A Guide to Bidding

Viewing times - before auction day
Saturday 10am - 1pm, Sunday 10am - 1pm, Monday 10am - 4pm


We have tried to make bidding as easy as possible, here are your options:

  • Bid online - leave your auto bids and the computer will bid for you or leave a commission bids and we will bid on your behalf.
  • Bid in person on sale day - register your name and address at our office where you will receive a buyers number.
  • Saleroom Absentee bidding - Complete a form in our saleroom and hand it to a member of staff.
  • Live bidding - We partner with easyliveauction, who charge an extra £3+VAT flat rate for the whole auction or 3%+VAT commission. Or bid live through our site for an extra 3% +VAT commission.

Any commission bids deemed low in relation to our pre-sale estimates may not be processed. 

Buyers Premium: all bids are subject to a buyer’s premium of 20% plus VAT.

Your bids will be executed as cheaply as possible on your behalf, up to your stated maximum. Occasionally if we have 2 absentee bids the same we may exceed your commission by one increment.

We do recommend that you verify all absentee bids.

After the sale succesful buyers will be emailed their invoices.

Clearance of Purchases

We are open for collection of purchases strictly by appointment, please contact our office by email or phone to arrange, 01382 833974.

Postage and Packing

Information for Sellers

Sell your goods at auction with convenience with Curr & Dewar.

House Clearance and Collection Service.

Our own van and men cover Tayside, Fife, Angus and Perthshire

We can arrange to collect anything from a single item to the clearance of a complete house contents. This includes the removal of items to the saleroom and the disposal of unsaleable items. Once the house has been cleared we also offer a cleaning service, if required. We also offer long and short term storage, delivery and shipping of bequests, all tailored to your individual requirements. 

Entering Items for Auction

Please email images of the items you wish to sell for assessment, we will then contact you to arrange an appointment to deliver to us.

Our sales do fill very quickly so a prior phone call on 01382 833974 to check availability and suitability of entries is advisable.


Commission: 15% plus VAT.

Internet Listing & Photograph Fee: £2.00 per lot sold and unsold plus VAT.

Withdrawn Lots: £5.00 per lot plus VAT. Handling charges may also apply.

Electrical Items: By law all electrical items are subject to a safety check, which is charged at £5.00 per item plus VAT.

Collection and House Clearance: £60.00 per hour plus VAT for a van and 2 men. This includes travel time, loading and unloading, packing and unpacking.

Disposal of Unsaleable Items: Will be at our discretion and charged at local rates.

Payment for goods sold is made by cheque or bank transfer after all sales have been completed. 
All proceeds are accompanied by a computerised and detailed statement.

Valuation Services

We provide valuation documents for Probate, Family Division and Insurance, which can also include a digital image of your treasured possessions. 

Please contact our office to discuss your specific requirements.

Pre-sale valuations of furnishings can be arranged, free of charge, whether in our auction rooms or where appropriate at your home.
